My wifi is a piece of crap meditation

This fun meditation can help your students manage frustrations related to everyday problems such as a bad wifi connection. It gives them an opportunity to use the technique called ‘focused meditation’ to help manage their emotional state more effectively.

The activity is based on audio delivered via YouTube. The audio doesn’t use the word ‘crap’, so teachers may deliver the activity without using this word.

ACTIVITY 01

Instructions 5 min

Invite students to sit in a comfortable position, with back straight and hands resting on their legs, desk or lap.

  1. As a group, watch the video clip My wifi is a piece of crap.
  2. Ask students to think about another everyday issue that causes them stress. Write down three things they could do to manage their emotional state more effectively, using the skills gained from today’s meditation.
  3. Invite students to share their ideas with the group.

People often find it easier to meditate when they use their senses to direct their attention somewhere else. This activity uses focused meditation, which helps students to focus on something intently to help them stay in the present moment and turn off their internal dialogue.
